| What is your advice for living a more animal- and planet-friendly life in 2012? |
The transition to a veg lifestyle for most people is more a process than an overnight switch, so I suggest taking one step at a time. Even if it's just observing Meatless Mondays, eating vegan one day a week, or adopting an animal friend, everything you do is a step in the right direction to end animal cruelty, enhance your health and reduce your environmental impact. For a quick and easy "first step" recipe try my Alfredo Sauce.
By all means, keep your compassionate food life interesting!
• Have fun by periodically taste-testing vegan goods at your local market (vegan cheese, coconut ice cream, juice with chia seeds, or whatever strikes your fancy).
• Explore the produce section, seek out unusual and new-to-you vegetables. Ask the produce person for simple cooking instructions or look them up in your favorite cookbook(s).
• Make time to cook and learn to enjoy it. Cooking can be relaxing and creative if you let it, plus you know all the ingredients you're eating. Explore new flavors and make it joyful. If you love preparing your food, you'll love eating it too! |
