In 1989, Allison Rivers Samson learned about the myriad benefits of veganism, including optimized health, compassion for animals, and care of the planet. Her love of sweets inspired her to begin experimenting with vegan* dessert recipes.
As any baker or food scientist will tell you, replacing the butter, eggs, and corn syrup in traditional baked goods and confections is no easy task. Each of these ingredients plays an important role in creating the texture, crumb, moisture, and flavor of traditional products. Not one to balk at a challenge, Allison knew that she could find a way to make all the sweet things she loved without using animal-based products, highly refined sweeteners, or unpronounceable ingredients.
In 1997, after refining her skills through chef training and countless experiments, and perfecting her recipes to surpass any other desserts on the market, Allison was ready to please the palates of discerning dessert lovers everywhere with her moist, chewy vegan cookies. She opened our predecessor, AllisonsCookies.com. Over time, she continued to craft luscious creations like vegan brownies, vegan caramels, vegan toffee, artisan vegan chocolates, and more. Allison’s Cookies blossomed into Allison’s Gourmet, the premiere and most prestigious vegan bakery, confectionary, and chocolaterie on the Web.

In addition to being a pioneer in the vegan food world, Allison is a certified health and wellness coach, holds a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition, a Black Belt Nia instructor, and completed chef training in Boulder, Colorado. She lives with her family in Northern California where she continues to create magic in the kitchen and is always working on delightful new recipes. From 2008-2013, she authored the award-winning magazine column, “Veganize It!” and in 2013 published her long-awaited first e-cookbook, Comfortably Yum.*Vegan foods are made without animal ingredients (no eggs, dairy, butter, or honey).
